Povzetek: A comparison of the nonlinear seismic response of two bridges, one with equal column heights and one hinge (new bridge) and the other with variable column heights and two hinges (conventional bridge) was made. The new bridge was intended to have a more uniform column shear distribution and not be susceptible to unseating at hinges. The review of peak displacements, column shears, and column curvature ductilities showed that, even though the new bridge incorporates some logical steps for improved seismic performance, without appropriate detailing, the benefits from these steps are generally minimal or non-existent [COBISS.SI-ID 456289]
